Flutter of Leaves
On a perfect October day, a friend and I took a hike to Pickerel Lake in the Pinkney-Waterloo State Recreation Area. I spotted an oak sapling with its leaves still hanging on. The light revealed purples, golds, and russets - the subtle colors called to me. After multiple shots on a windy day, I finally caught a photo in between flutters. The image was printed onto silk crepe de chine, then textured with quilting and thread painting.
